Red Flag of Fever

  • Symptoms presisting for more than three days
  • Child does not eat or drink much and does not pass much urine
  • Cries in an unusual way - weal, high pitched or continuous cry
  • Repeated vomiting
  • Abnormal grunting
  • Breathing much faster than usual
  • Cold limbs, febrile seizures (fits)

Do’s and Don’ts of Fever

Do’s

  • Tepid Sponging
  • Take sufficient rest
  • Drink plenty of water/fluids
  • Follow the proper medication regimen
  • Monitor body temperature with a thermometer

Don’ts

  • Use ice water for sponging as it worsen the condition
  • Overdress or underdress
  • Starve as it may result in loss of energy and increase wealness
  • Force to eat if any do not feel like eating
  • Self-medicate
